Heii guys, i know its difficult and i know i get what i pay for but today im asking for the ultimate challenge!

I need a Macro solution which doesnt cost me more than 200$, because i wont use it much but if i want to get more into macro, i dont want to find myself paying 500$ in a not so good lens and figuring out i want more

Is it possible? Look at my gear for possible extension tube solutions or whatever :)
Love to hear your ideas at such a little budget

The 55-250 while not being a Macro lens, has a pretty good maximum magnification. and u can buy them used for 150 bucks sometimes less.

Just get a set of Kenko tubes and use it with the 135L??

I've even tried the 40 pancake + tubes, it can get a little tricky as you have to get so close which blocks off a lot of lights, but it still works ;)

Here's an example -

Do you really need 1:1 mag? What are you shooting?

You can get cheap plastic tubes from ebay for $10. I had something similar before getting the Kenko set and it almost snap the mount off my 100L (got stuck and wouldn't come off), plus you cannot change aperture on the fly as it has no electronic contact whatsoever.

Lesson learnt for me? Never buy cheap stuff again. It's simply not worth it.

Im planning to shoot a bit butterflies or flowers close up. But mainly i want to shoot usual everyday items but close up so you need to think a bit before you see what it is. A bit of abstract photography, and i think ill just need 1:1 for that...

Yeah no aperture control is rubbish...

By the looks of things you can get a used Sigma 50mm f2.8 macro on eBay for less than 200USD...

Very sharp, goes full 1:1 macro, working distance is a little short, but worth looking at :)

Example from the lens below:

I hope he didn't kill that dragonfly just to be able to take a photo of it with a 50mm macro lens :p
since the canon efs 60 macro has a working distance of 3.5inches or 9cm I would guess a 50mm would have around 3inches or less

No wee beasties were harmed in the taking of the shot :)

It is a relatively heavy crop (about 15%) as it was perched on some stinging nettles and I was wearing shorts. MWD for the Sigma is very close @1:1 I think the front element is a couple of inches away from the subject.

I guess we have a braver class of beastie out here in Rural Hungary... Butterflies seem to be less keen but getting up close and personal with grasshoppers, crickets, Dragonflies and wasps seems to be relatively ok.

If you knock the plant they are on or cast a shadow over them they get spooked but if I'm careful I get quite a few opportunities. I'm thinking of getting something with a little more working distance at some point in time but for now it serves me really well :)

The Canon 50mm 2.5 CM is a great lens that used can be had for about $170. It is not a full 1:1 macro, it only goes down to 1:2, but this will be close enough for about 90-95% of all macro applications. It's a great lens with excellent edge to edge sharpness.
