I havent had much time to post for a few weeks and have recently had a week in Norfolk. Main objective was to see (and hopefully) photograph Norfolk Hawkers and Swallowtails.

I managed to get some Swallowtails on the first full day out there and then on the Tuesday had my fill of Norfolk Hawkers. I am still going through my pics but there wont be any true macro shots so I cant post the majority in here as they are birds and seals, but here are a couple of each of the above that I can probably just about get away with posting in here lol.

Norfolk Hawker

Swallowtails
These were tricky as there was a fair breeze blowing and they flit about all the time they are feeding. A real privilege to see these though.

Thanks :D Yes, it was fabulous. We had not been away for 7 years (although had days out instead) and this holiday was fantastic with a huge variety of stuff to photograph.

Thank you :D Yes, the Norfolk Hawker is a very attractive DF. I was so pleased to see so many and get some nice pics - I never thought I would be lucky enough to see and photograph them.

Thanks so much :D The Swallowtails were tricky, it was really bright sunshine and was thrilled to bits to see them.

distinctly un-British looking butterflies, must have been very satisfying to get good captures of subjects you especially went to see.

Yes, not your usual UK butterfly is it, thats why it was such a privilege to see them. Apparently its been a good year for them in Norfolk - and for those that dont know, you are only ever likely to see these in Norfolk.

I was particularly lucky with these as they were feeding on the Valerian for a while - all the others that we saw while we were up there were flitting across meadows or near reed beds.
