Hello everyone

I was wondering about "sharing photos online" I have seen so many sites that you join in order to upload photos into galleries for storage and also so that people or clients can view them. There seems to be so many and I don't know where to start.

I was wondering if people could let me know the pros and cons, so that I can make an informed choice.

I mainly take photos at the moment of womens soccer and I would like to upload them so that the girls can download the ones that they like. I would like to be able to make galleries or something similar for example

team blue v team red @ melbourne 21-12-01
team red v team blue @ sydney 21- 12-02

Also I think that I would like some sort of privacy setting or a password, so that only the people with the link or password can view and download photos. Im not a professional photographer yet, so the abilty for people to be able buy photos the online doesnt interest me at the moment. Mainly want somewhere to be be able to share the photos with people I give permission too!

Just had a quick look online now and I can see that I have a choice from hundreds
ie smugmug, imageevent, snapfish etc etc.

Anyway thanks ever so much for your time and help

Here's something I found the other day that lets you upload up to 60MB, and it has a PW feature that you were looking for also(so long as you register).

www.photoshelter.com (external link)

This will enable you to provide high res dowloads to 'invited' parties via a secure system - with IP address logging.

Also, it has all the gallery/archiving functions you need as well. Details here: www.photoshelter.com/tour/?c=index (external link)

I remember this online storage (external link) service.

You can upload your photos and organize it in separate folders. You have options to generate a share link for your clients to download.

This service offers full control over your shared data as you can password protect it, fix the number of downloads and the image gallery view allows the user to view images as thumbnails.
