Hi All,

I kind of posted this before but thought I had a camera issue. Basically on occasion when using the lens it decides to stop focussing. The camera then fails to shoot. If I switch to AI servo it works again, then back to One shot and it works again until it decides to fail again. This happens with both a 5d and 1d mark 2. I have no issues with any other lens. It seems to be an obvious lens fault. I will inevitably have to try and send it to canon or a service centre but they are few and far betwwen here where I live.

Has anyone had this issue and if so was it fixed, or what was the outcome. Thanks

Just thinking out loud here, but did you ensure the contacts were clean on the lens?

They look good but I will get some electronic cleaner and give a clean anyway. Good suggestion to start

I've just bought a second hand Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L lens with similar issues, although mine shows up an error code "err01". I also shoot with a Canon 5D Mk1 body.

Today I've sent it off to Canon UK (Elstree) to be repaired/fixed at a quoted cost of £104, but from the 1st August 2013 this price rises to £155.

Does yours show this "err01" code ??

It shows no error anywhere, just fails to shoot
