So I'm getting close to enough as far as skill set to be a 2nd shooter (according to the photographer I'm working with). So now I'm looking to expand my gear a little since I don't have full range yet of coverage. I typically cover more of the detail shots, candid shots, and last would probably be portraits (for now). Below is my current gear and what I'm thinking to get. I don't have to worry about 'backup gear' since the photographer I work with carries 2 extra bodies.

Currently Have
60D
Canon 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5
Canon 17-85mm f/4-5.6
Canon 50mm f/1.4

THE Plan
430EX
Yongnuo Triggers
Light Stand
Umbrella Mount
60" Translucent Umbrella
Sell the 17-85 and get the Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 (non-VC)

Then currently looking at...
Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8
Tokina 50-135mm f/2.8
Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8
(No way I can afford the Canon version of the 70-200mm right now)

Maybe looking at the 60mm f/2.8 or the 100mm Macro

Suggestions? Thoughts? Bad Jokes of the Day?

Canon 60D, Canon 10-22mm, Sigma 30mm 1.4, Tamron 17-50mm, YN-560 IV Flash (2)

Not commenting on wedding side per se. I have the tokina 50-135 and find it great. The non L 100mm macro also is great. From doing a few chritenings and taking a few wedding shots a faster standard zoom would be handy also (similar to the efs 17-55mm f2.8)

Ya, I think I may have to skip on the Tokina and Sigma tele's since they have no version of IS.... They seem like good lens though, just not for what I need to use them for.

The sigma 70-200 OS has stabilization, and is reviewed pretty well.

Also, I believe it's on sale for $999, which is a steal compared to it's usual price. Good value, IMO

check the 'market watch' thread for this deal^^

with the 10-22, you might as well look into 24-xxx EF 2.8 zooms and should generally stick with EF 2.8 zooms. EF lenses will work with the backup FF or Crop bodies, where EF-s type lenses will only work with crop bodies, something to consider.

sigma and tamron both have 70-200F2.8 stabilized versions. Really cant go wrong with either.

Hmm sigma might work, but kinda hard to find a used OS version.

uhhhhhh that's NEW price, and it's pretty damn close to historical used prices. Check out B&H / adorama.

I would consider a more powerful flash for bounce use or go for cheap Yongnuo flash for your umbrella, etc.

Replacing the 17-85 with a f/2.8 constant zoom would be high on my list. The 17-85 IS is a pretty old lens.

I was looking at the yn-560 II for a flash but apparently there's no way of securing the flash to the hot shoe.

??

The 560s are manual, you'd be better off with the 568.

....the best camera is the one you have on you at the time.

the YN560 fits on a hot shoe like any (and all) other flashes

But like the other poster said the 560 is a manual flash, for weddings and events you will need an ETTL flash, e.g. Canon 430exII, Yongnuo YN565ex, YN468, etc.
