Looking for help from LR gurus.

Is there a way to convert RAWs to DNG and then export to JPG automatically on import ?

Import and export are different functions and different LR modules that cannot run simultaneously. If you had a house that you could enter through the front door and exit through the back door at the same time, that wouldn't leave room for much of a house between the two doors. KISS may be a catchy motto, even if a cliché, but the result of too much KISS is reducto ad absurdum.

Just out of curiosity, why would you want to do that?

When I import photos, I apply a preset with some adjustments (increase vibrancy and clarity, some minor modifications). The DNGs converted with this preset generally look better, to me, than SOOC JPEGS. I would rather import and convert at same time, this way if I need to share some photos right away I have a better set available.

I think the best you can do is also set up an export default for saving the jpegs, and then once you import everything, just CTRL-A (i.e. select all), right click, then export with your jpeg preset. Not quite all-in-one, but pretty quick. This is basically what I do if I need to produce jpegs quickly. The only difference is I'll still at least look through all of the photos, since I always have some that need a little bit of a crop, slight exposure or contrast boost, etc.

I haven't heard a way to do what you describe, just the approach IslandCrow describes, it's pretty quick and easy to just to a quick Export with whatever presets you want to apply either as an Export function or as an Import function (or using a Publish function).

Remember that converting to JPGs is what takes the time.
If what you want is a quick set of JPGs with applied import preset, just import without copying or converting. i.e. Add to catalog. That should only take a few minutes, even if you have a thousand files.
While Lightroom is still rendering the previews you can then select all and start the Export preset you've set up as described above.

That will take awhile but you'll have all the JPGs in a separate folder.

Now you can, if you want, do a batch convert to DNG of the raw files. (Presuming you have the raws backed up somewhere else.)
