I am going to go the oposite direction from everyone else.. the last three are nice but nothing really new.... but I really like the 1st one, to me it stands out. Its off angle, doesn't really tell a story, but just looks, well, differently cool. Click on amigo...

All cool, but I like #1 the best. It has lots of interesting details to consider, like the spike pulled partly out and the one missing, and the text on the LH of the rail that you can't quite make out. And it's all very crisp & sharp. Great job!

I'm sure it's pretty normal to shoot things just to figure out what interests you. I read somewhere that you should take the picture, and then turn around in a circle and see everything else. I tend to look straight and then up and down.... drives the folks around me crazy at times, but it's affective. Especially when I don't really know what to expect. glad to know it works, atleast part of the time :) :)
