Sorry to disappoint, these are not g&n material :). I saw the hummingbird bathe once so I setup my camera but the chicks started to bathe also and did not give the hummingbird a chance to bathe again. Hopefully the hummingbird will come back and take a dip again. Taken with the 7D and 400mm f/5.6.

Nice disappointment Jo :)
Great catch and photo.
Did you have to PP the noise or is this the 7D's performance at 1600 ISO? I'm trying to decide whether to get one or wait for the 70D.

Excellent bathing images. I've tried several set-ups to capture Hummingbirds bathing but no takers so far. Care to post an image of the bath itself? I'm trying to figure out if I want to try a bowl type or a waterfall type...Hummingbird size of course.

Mark, REC and Duane, thanks so much for the kind words :).

Duane, here are 2 shots of my crappy DIY bathe setup. The stone is a bit concave and there's a small amount of water that accumulates which I think is what attracts the birds. Good luck with your setup and hope you get those hummingbirds bathing :)

I did something similar but I drilled a hole through the rock and ran the tubing through the hole. Mine was kind of like a bubble bath but it didn't work too well because the Raccoons tipped it over each night. The screen is a great idea...keeps the debris out and keeps the larger birds from trying to drink from the bucket...maybe it will keep the Raccoons out as well or I'll just take it in each night. Thanks for the photo of your set-up...hope the Hummingbird returns. :D

I love that last one! I always have a tough time distinguishing between the Carolina and Black-Capped Chickadees. Great shots!
