This is a picture I've taken a couple of years ago with my Digital Rebel. I got a lot of good feedback from people around me on it, but I find there's a lot of room for improvement, just don't know where so C&C please!
here it is resized but unedited.

I would try a longer exposure, get those lights brighter and a nice glow on the water. The water is pretty dark and hard to see. Might also want to try a bit tihgter crop, not so tall.

Good shot though.

Very nice. The gentle light eminating from the city (background) is really nice. There's a lot of 'dead space' top and bottom. It would look great as a panoramic.

This definietly brought back memories for me. I agree with the suggestion to crop.

I miss montreal... I was there in august for the first time and stayed with a friend that lives at the foot of Mount Royal, pretty much straight down from the cross in the top right corner of your shot (he went to mcgill)... and I must say, compared to winnipeg, montreal is an amazing place to take pictures. from the modern downtown, to the glory of the old port... i wandered around that city in awe of it all.

great shot by the way... makes me want to jump on a plane and head back there.

Ah, Montreal! What great city! So vibrant and alive! Crop! Chop off the left and right sides where nothing much is happening. Bring the sky down to where the glow starts to appear. Bring the bottom up to about where that highlight shows in the water from the clock tower's reflection. Make it look more like a pano. Play with the contrast and shadow detail, and try a little saturation to make those colored lights pop out a little more. Then post it again for us to see.

I think it needs more contrast, brightness and saturation... Not sure if this is right but closer to what I prefer. I think it's difficult for me to make the adjustments with the file size being so small.
