OK, that's just adorable! And wearing the right Vans shoes too.

I went to this race a couple weekends ago. The guy off the front is 63 and he was trying to break away from the category 1, 2, 3 field. I don't know his name but one of the guys said he was an ex professional racer. I was greatly impressed.

Visited the Tour de France individual time trial near Domancy on Tueday July 18 2023. Always fun to photograph as rides pass one by one. Unfortunately, fellow crowd members with a lack of discipline make it hard sometimes .

I shot a bicycle hill climb on Sunday and it was sad how many folks stood or sat where the competitors needed to be.
It may be weeks from now, but I will post some images of these people, and especially of the bicyclists.

Here is one from 2019 where the the reporter from the local newspaper kept standing out in the frame.
It really stunk when the cyclist was close to her side of the street because you had no chance at a decent image:

If it is a reporter or official photographer, I can live with it if they are 'in my shot' as I am just a hobbyist, though I prefer them to stand elsewhere. I tend to bring multiple lenses, so I have both telephoto and wider, to be more flexible. The narrower angle of view sometimes gives the chance to pick up a rider further away with direct bystanders being outside the angle of view.

When the riders in the top of the GC came, I switched to a 24-70 above head with the swivel screen and 'spray and pray'. Did get some shots, but from a photography point of view, they are far less interesting. Especially with the white and yellow jersey, a low standpoint was not possible.

First time shooting. Big lenses were not working so I tried something different. Looking forward to going back and trying again....... faster sense this time. F2.8 was not cutting it.

....love the break away, these experienced riders are strong and will surprise you!

i was drawn to his choice of cycling shoe; something you just don't see that often

riding a Colonago; he done this before!
