Dell 23” IPS Monitor?

I just need a fairly decent monitor for a couple of my non-color critical systems. BestBuy has the 23” Dell IPS S2340M on sale for $160.00.

Does anyone have experience with this monitor? From the on-line reviews I’ve read there seems to be an abnormal number of complaints about red lines forming on the right side of the screen after a few weeks, and total monitor failure after only several months.

And apparently when you buy it from BestBuy there is a big problem with Dell service with the warranty. There is no Dell Service Tag when you buy from BestBuy and Dell reps don’t know how to handle it and just give you the runaround until you give up.

Any experiences here? Or any suggestions for another decent monitor at about that price point?

Sounds like you should save a bit for something better. I really like my Dell u2412m. I think it is around $300.

I currently have better Dell monitors on systems that need them.
But I don't need anything special for some general-purpose systems. Just something dependable.
