Ed, I bought this backpack about a month ago (for a lot more money). For your intended use, you could get by without the waist strap, although I do find it helps to support the weight a little more, if you really load up the backpack. I also own the smaller Flipside 300, and never use the waist strap on that bag.

I just came back from a 1 week trip to Glacier National Park using this backpack, loaded up with a 5D3, 7D, 24-105L, 17-40L, 100-400L, and 40mm f/2.8 pancake, along with a few filters, memory cards and a couple spare batteries and charger. Everything fit . . . the bag will fit into the overhead compartment of a smaller, regional jet airliner, which was a requirement for me.

Pretty impressive!

I'm really happy with my Lowepro Fastpack 250 and I love it. This deal makes me wish I could justify a second bag!

I got the same reply, Randy. I'm just being patient. I'm going on vacation to Las Vegas on the 12th. I do hope it arrives before then, but if not no big deal. I'll just use my Gura Gear Bataflae instead.

I have the flipside 300 and love it, but it's really small.

Howdy All,

I just re-checked the eBay transit status and it just changed to show that it's in Los Angeles. With a little luck, maybe I'll have it later this week :D.

I ordered mine on 7/31.
Ebay tracking say it's now in "Shanghai EMS" - hope that is the post office and that it is coming by air.
For the price, I can wait :)

Well after much debate I broke down and ordered a green one. I flipped for the epacket for $64.40 total. Shipping should be much quicker. I've had 5 day delivery with epacket before. We'll see.

You guys and this damn market watch has costed me over $700 in the past month alone!!!

I've been using the Lowepro Pro Runner 300AW and although these are essentially the same size the flipside having that rear opening I can see me liking that much more.

I'll have to sell my pro runner and I'm not using my crumpler 6 mdh either so between selling both of those I will put money in my pocket.

I picked one up as well.

Skipped faster shipping since it tends to not matter with customs(YMMV).

I'm just hoping I get it before Labor Day weekend for a family gathering.

Which seller did you buy from? Curious, because I ordered/paid for mine on the same day.

So how does it look? Do you have another LowePro bag to compare it to?

My delivery date was Aug 15-Aug28. It arrived today. I just took a quick look at it and if it's a knock off as some have expressed concerns about then it is a really good one. I carefully looked at the material and the stitching and it all looks first rate. Now I'll just have to see how my gear fits in it.

One thing I can tell already is it will not be quite as easy to get my gear in and out of as my 250 Fast Pack but I won't have to change lenses on the camera to store everything as I do now. Currently I have to put my 70-300 on my camera to get everything in the bag. With this new one I'm quite certain everything will bit and I can keep my 24-105 on my camera since I use it the most.

I ordered from the link that Ed posted. Probably you're on the East Coast so it might take longer? The bag is pretty solid. It does not feel like a cheap knock-off. It has more rooms for lenses as well as accessories than my current backpack, which is Case Logic SLRC-206. However, it looks... uglier and the padding is thinner as well.
