I attended the MotoGP race at Laguna Seca last weekend. Here's a few photos from the event. All shots were taken with 5D mark III and the new Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 Sports Series. Most were shot with Canon EF 1.4x III extender, but I think one was with Sigma 2x Teleconverter.C&C is always welcome. Thanks for looking.

The entire set can be seen on my flickr if you're interested. Here's a link.

Great shots. MotoGP is some of my favorite stuff to shoot. Would love to head out to Laguna Seca. Really impressive stuff here.

Thanks GAZA62 for the nice comment.
As far as shooting at Laguna Seca.It is actually quite friendly for photogs. There are a few sections of the track that have high fencing(i.e. in front of the grandstands). But the majority of the track has relatively low fencing.Because the track is built into a hillside,I'd say about 75% of the fencing around the track is only 5 feet tall.
You can shoot the whole day without having to photograph through a fence.
If you ever get the chance to go there,I would recommend it.

Robert

Those shots are fantastic. The Sigma works very well with the 1.4x

Gee, I was thinking of pulling the trigger on the Canon 300 f2.8 II. But after seeing these shots I might have to think again.

When you see my camera gear you'll think I'm a pro.
When you see my photos you'll know that I'm not.

Nice pans! I tried, but failed miserably. So, instead of shooting the race, I focused my shots on the events surrounding the race...i.e. Ducati Island Fashion Show, etc. :P

I'm going back to Laguna in September for WSBK. Not as exciting as MotoGP, but it'll still be fun. :)
