Was poking around in the menus and I can see where I can select 5 different exposures but I thought the 1d3 could only bracket 3 shots? Also, how can I get the 1d3 to take all of the bracketed shots (whether 3 or 5) with one press of the button. I do it all of the time with my 50d but haven't been able to figure it out on the 1d3 yet.

Thanks.

Make sure it's not in one shot mode, but in servo. Haven't used that feature in awhile, but my memory tells me you can only take three bracketed shots.

By changing the shutter speed or aperture automatically, the camera brackets the exposure up to +/-3 stops in 1/3-stop increments for three successive shots. This is called AEB.

If the drive mode is set to single shooting, you must press the shutter button three times. When H continuous or L continuous is set and you hold down the shutter button completely, the three bracketed shots will be taken continuously. Then the camera will stop shooting. When the timer is set, the three bracketed shots will be taken after a 10-sec. or 2-sec. delay.

It didn't seem right that only 3 exposures could be taken for a bracketed set in AEB since my 1DsII could take 3, 5 or 7 bracketed exposures as one set. So, I found the manual for the Canon EOS 1D MkIII at:

Look up custom functions:

custom function C.Fn 1-6 on page 159 "number of bracketed shots"

^ I was thinking the same thing, but didn't dig much further into this topic today. Good catch!

Thanks. It's too bad more members here don't take a few moments to look up and confirm the answers they give are correct rather than just post what they recall.

Thanks again to everyone. I was able to get some shots while out West. And yes, you can select more than 3 shots to bracket (I did 5).

I appreciate all of the great help!
