Sigma 18-35mm size

Does the size (length) of the Sigma 18-35mm turn any of you off from buying it? It's looks to me almost like a telephoto lens. I'm considering buying this lens or the Sigma 35mm 1.4.

It is a large and fairly heavy lens but in order to get the great build quality, IQ, and 1.8 zoom, it was necessary. I think people realize that :)
