1D classic question

I just got my hands on a second hand 1D classic. Now I noticed whenever I take out the battery, it looses its time settings. It appears to remember other settings but the time/date is gone. Is this normal? It is rather annoying having to set the time/date each time I charge the battery.

Thank you

The Canon 1D has a smaller lithium battery on the top of the battery chamber that stores date at time when the main battery is taken out to be charged. See page 11 of the Instruction manual.

Thank you very much, it wasn't very clear in the manual where the battery was located although I must say I haven't read the entire book yet. Orderd myself a new one :)

Another question. I've been looking over the forum and googled quite a bit but I can't find any way to connect my 1D to my pc. I am using windows 7 64bit. Is there any way to get this to work? Or will I have to resort to installing windows XP? I can't seem to get it to connect to a virtual machine running windows XP either :(
Any suggestions?

Thanks for the tip. I have a card reader. That is not the issue here. I want to change the owner information for which I actuallly need to get it connected to a pc through the firewire connection.

You will need to find a PC with firewire running XP, I have never been able to get Vista or 7 to work with the camera.

What works much better is to find someone with a Mac.

I second that.

Well, actually... I have two Macs: an old iMac (2006) and a Mac Pro and with the cables provided I can hook up my 1D Mark II N to the old iMac but not to the Mac Pro. But even then I have to do it in a certain order, meaning I have to first open Eos Utility, then connect the camera to the iMac and turn it on, after which Eos Utility will restart and function as it should. Any other order and it doesn't work.

Edit: by the way, alphatrix, cool that you bought a 1D classic! :)

Good luck! I've been trying without success so far.

Equipment list - According to the wife - "how many more lenses do you need? Yet another camera?" ???
