It looks like we should expect to see the first update for LR 5 next week. This was posted earlier today:

I've been reading about issues others were experiencing. I was planning on upgrading. Perhaps this will cause me to make the upgrade sooner rather than later.

If they fix all of the major bugs, I will surely upgrade from LR4.

Maybe I am just an optimist, but I already upgraded and the MAJOR problems others have been experiencing are not an big of an issues as people are making them out to be. I think it is just residual anger over the whole CC thing.
Haven't regretting the upgrade for a single second.

No, the product is not that great yet, mainly due to performance issues when handling tons of data. The Publish issue is huge since right now it's very easy to delete master copies of images since a different image can be shown as selected in the filmstrip and grid view.

I don't typically upload or export images reduced to less than 1/3 of their original size, so the sharpening bug doesn't affect me ... however if I did I would be pretty frustrated.

I have no doubt LR 5 will be a good product after the 2nd or 3rd update comes out (this update doesn't address performance), but unfortunately right now I'm feeling like a beta tester.
