Currently, my wife is on a Thinkpad T40 that is showing its age. She also doesn't like how the colors represent on her laptop screen. What I'm looking for:
- Price. I haven't looked at windows machines in a while. I hope to find a decent laptop for her for under $800.
- Color. She is just looking for a basic laptop that will allow her to edit photos and have them represent nicely on the web - Facebook and Picasa. She does minimal printing. She likes how the color of my photos look on her computer (I use a macbook, Spyder4 calibrated led screen) and on her windows phone. This is about her impression of the colors - not about the technical color issues that we care about.
- OS. She will only use Windows. I think touch screen with Windows 8 would be great for her... but not certain about user experience.
- Processing Power. I have LR4 right now (to be upgraded) on my machine and the terms and conditions say I can install on two computers... so I'd like to get her started on shooting RAW with her S100 and edit within Lightroom (export to Picasa using Friedl's plugin).
