Any experiences (good and bad) or feedback about the quality of "refurbished" cameras bought from Canon/Digital River on EBay? They are selling off several EOS 1D Mk II and EOS 1Ds bodies. Look good prices, average £1600-1800 for EOS 1D Mk II. All have full 12 month Canon guarantee.

The EOS film cameras I bought from them back in July were very close to mint condition - looked like they were probably ex-display items ...and the prices at that time were very reasonable. Of late their auctions seem to reach pretty high prices though.

I've bought a Powershot G5 and a digital camcorder from them. Absolutely no complaints on either score. First class service.

Wow... won the bid on Sunday for EOS 1D Mk II body, delivered today, looks absolutely stunning. Can't wait to try it out. £1550 seems a real bargain with 12mth Canon warranty.

My brother bought a 300mm f/4 from there.

When it arrived you would swear it was brand new.

Top people IMO..:D

I purchased a Ixus camera off them, it was a refurb one. When the box arrived it was certainly not in 'new' condition however when I took a look at what was inside, everything was brand spanking mint. I've used the camera quite a lot over the last few months and its been great. Having said that I purchased it for 200 quid and you talking about spending nearly 1.8k so there is a big difference. They are not very good at responding to emails but overall I would give them the thumbs up.

I bought a refurb Ixus 500 from them maybe a year and a half ago or so for an absolute steal - came like new and has worked hard perfectly as my P&S ever since.

I bought a refurb A75 for my fiancee from them

If that camera had ever been out the box it didn't show.

Thumbs up to them!
