Hi all,
does anyone know if it's possible to get an icc-profile for Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy (PP-101) that I can use with an Epson r800?

I have searched and searched but cannot find any profiles made for Epson printers and Canon papers.
Any suggestions would be most helpful :)

TIA

You're very unlikely to find such a profile - third party paper manufacturer's paper in a printer, perhaps you'll find profiles, but one printer manufacturer's paper in another manufacturer's printer - that's unlikely.

Is there any reason you want to use Canon paper in your Epson? Often this sort of thing doesn't work out well, as the printer manufacturers tend to optimise their papers for their inks, and the paper can work very badly with a different manufacturer's inks.

Only reason is that I got a bunch of paper (about 400 A4 pages) from a friend... Wouldn't just bin them.....

One way ahead is to try a few test prints unprofiled. If it looks in any way promising, get a profile made from a bureau service.

I suspect it'll be easier to get rid of this paper (eBay or Marketplace section, perhaps) and buy some Epson or third party paper, but you might get usable results.

I actually do the opposite. I get much glossier, fingerprint proof prints with Epson Premium glossy on my Canon i560 than the same paper in my R1800.

But I have noticed that dark colors come out horrible on my i560 compared to my R1800. So I may be looking at getting a newer Canon printer with more ink tanks for 4x6 and 5x7 printing.

It seems that from everything I've read, that the big 3 printer manufacturers have closely tied their papers and inks together, and that branded paper usually won't work too well in another mfgs. printer. I doubt if Epson is going to come out with an ICC profile for Canon paper, or vice versa. Your best shot is probably going to be trial and error, but the amount of ink you go through trying to get an acceptable result may not be worth it.

I use that paper. If you use photoshop allow printer to mange colors. Then in your printer properties use color controls, Gama 2.2, Epson Standard, Brightness +10, Saturation -5. I dont use a r800 tho I have the r200 but this would be a good starting point.

Edit: For my printer and monitor is gives me an almost exact match.

epson offers a few basic profiles free on their site: http://www.epson.com …BVCookie=yes&oid=51716719 (external link)

they are generic (though its safe to assume based on epson papers) but I used the profile for glossy with Kodak paper and got great results.

Thanks all for your valuable inputs...
I will at least have a go at the generic profiles from Epson, even though I thought these where special made for Epson paper ;)
Adjusting printer properties seems like a good choice also, but I see that as much trial and error....
