Hi all

This is my first time posting in this forum..so I hope it is O.K posting a photo and asking people advice about what I should do. I recently took this photo but was just gonna throw it away due to the obvious problem. However basically i think without the branch it could be a nice photo. Now I am fairly new to photoshop ( cs5 ) and can just about manage basic edits. I just wanted to know can a branch like this be removed, especially with such a varied background or is it too much to ask? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. If anyone wants to play with the photo please feel free. Thanks very much

Richard

It can be removed, but it's going to take a lot of careful cloning:(

Bit, by very careful bit. No trying to do it in 5 minutes because it will never work. Be prepared for some late nights.

But its certainly achievable with care in selection of other parts of the image to lay over it.

It goes without saying I hope that you work on a copy of the original and save it as you go under a different name.

Agree with the above fellas but I`m still waiting for the speedy and knowledgeable
ones who`ll do it in 3.14 seconds. Or minutes.

I took about 10 minutes in PS to play with this. It's not perfect, but could be close with a little more work. I selected the branch area and used content-aware fill, then worked on bits and pieces with the clone tool.

Wow....thanks so much. It looks great. I also tried to select the branch and use content aware fill but other parts of the KF ( bill and face ) would fill the area. I guess I will try some more and see if I can do aswell as you. Thanks again...it's nice to know it can be done...even if I find it difficult!

Not sure if it matters, but I am using CS6. I don't know if they made any improvements to the tool between CS5 and CS6, but it's a possibility. Here are pics of my selection, and what the CAF tool came up with.
