Sea Grapes are one of the best native plants in South Florida. They require little water, provide food and shelter for wildlife, and are very attractive with lush foliage. It is native and grows naturally along the beaches on coastal dunes and in the tropical hardwood hammocks of coastal central and southern Florida from Cape Canaveral and the Tampa Bay area and south to the Keys. It is very salt-tolerant and extremely hardy, as it grows exposed on the dunes along the coast to harsh winds and strong hurricanes.
