My brides father died unexpectedly less than 3 months ago. She asked if we could stop so she could give her dad a rose. The reception was an emotional roller coster for everyone. Her uncle, The fathers brother, stepped in and took dads place for the Father daughter dance. There wasnt a dry eye in the building. Its what we live for as wedding photographers, but wow, tough to shoot. Gonna spend a little time is post to make these look awesome. Straight offs for now.

Both incredible shots Mike.....you did a fantastic job and my heart goes out to her.
Edit--In post I would consider blurring out the tombstone in background.

That 2nd shot will stick with me for a while and I was not even there. That is a powerful image. I looked through the rest of the images on your Facebook page and it appears that there was also a lot of joy at this occasion. You did a great job of capturing the full gamut of emotions on this day.

Excellent shots from a tough job. I once had a father-of-the-bride who died the night before the ceremony. I got the call just before midnight from her uncle (a friend of mine). The first thing the priest opened with was "Ladies and gentlemen, a dark cloud hangs over today's wedding...." as he said this, the bride and half the guests burst into tears. Don't think I've ever felt like hitting anyone as much as I did that priest!

a bit on the morbid side. lookin forward to the post. i would have gone with a diff angle on the first one. something more intimate and not showing a bunch of headstones of random people. it should be her and her dad.

Sad story for sure. Lost my farther 2 months ago. First one is way too much (I am also Danish) last one is spot on. Tells the story without the obvious grave.

I see what you were going for with the first one, but yeah, the other grave is a tragedy too, kid was 18. I would find a way to blur out the entire area in the back of the focal plane.
