First shots with new G1X and also experimenting with Photomatix and enjoying the effects. This is a three-shot merge.

Very nice shot, and very nice banjo. Was this a converted plectrum or tenor? The neck looks like a later RB, and the pot, an earlier top tension. Handsome instrument in any case. The warm colors and wide angle look real sexy.

Dan: The neck & resonator were made by John Monteleone in 1973. The rest of the parts were made by companies who supplied parts to Gibson, but this banjo wasn't assembled in the Gibson plant. I had it custom made in '73. Back then the only truly great banjos were customs as Gibson was making the worst banjos it'd ever made.

I've had a ton of banjos in my day but this was the one I never sold or traded. It'll walk the dog, let me tell you.

Thanks Mark :) The focus is slow and there's not much macro, but the IQ is truly outstanding for a P&S camera. I'm loving it.
