Really had a blast today at Skins training camp with my 7D and 70-200 2.8 ii. I really love that lens!! I got a pretty bad sunburn but I got RG3 autograph so it evens out.

He ran the entire sideline and gave 5's...I got one!

Tip: Try to capture the action from the front. So we can se the players faces and fronts.

Have you ever been to a football teams training camp? Lol. You pretty much stand where they let you stand and do your best. The team changes drills every 10 minutes and its a challenge. Pro photogs, videoers, coaches, players, and other random people standing in the way or everything. It would probably 100x easier to shoot a pro game.

Not to say you're not absolutely correct but it's really not that simple in this setting.

I haven´t been to a football training camp, but I´ve been to quite a few sport events as a photographer and some places I´ll have to stand where I am being placed, no matter what. It´s part of the game being a photographer. If it means that there´s only 1-2 good photos after a few hours of photography, then that´s what is being delivered. I never deliver photos showing players backs or action without ball. It´s boring (just my honest opinion) and it doesn´t give me anything different from the occational Facebook shoot saying "I was there".

That said: #3 would´ve been good if it wasn´t for the motion blur. Check your shutter speeds. #5 is also a decent shot. The rest goes to Facebook saying "I´ve been there". Try to spend more time looking for angles and action and personally I think it´s better to shoot 1 good photo instead of 50 poor ones. There will always be thousands of photos like this around and the clue is to find an angle or an action that no/few others have. You will get more good critique for one really good photo than you will get from 10 mediocre ones.

I like them and you don't see a lot of football stuff around here...appreciate your opinion.

If you like them, then they are good :-) That´s what I tell people when they ask for my opinion. Still: I deliver my personal opinion from my experience/liking even though it´s not the same opinion as the photographer, but it´s written with good intentions. I agree that there should be more football (and soccer) in the forum.

I'm currently narrowing down which day I'm going to go to Bears camp. I've never been there before, so I am going into it with zero expectations for photos. Also, I'd be more than happy to take a sunburn for an RG3 autograph!

The sunburn is still stinging but it was totally worth it! Good luck at Bears camp! Hope you post pics :)

Yep...it's tough, that is why I was happy with what I got. You get one spot and if you move from there forget getting back up to the front again...and having media and the "ambassadors" wander into half the shots..frustrating. The offense switches which way on the field they head...very challenging but fun!

I am glad I am not there today! It is a mob scene!

It´s a challenge when the Pro´s are trying to deliver a good product for their clients ;-)a

VERY nice work! They have put in so many restrictions here in AZ that it's not even worth it anymore.

I understand they have a job to do. I was never rude or vocal like some others were...that does not mean its not frustrating. In the previous camp the media was set up in a different place.
