So, I am upgrading from crop to full frame.

I believe I am getting the canon 6D

Right now the only lens that will work for me will be my canon 50mm 1.4

I want something around 85-100mm range and I want the best quality for the price.
Very sharp etc
This will be strictly for portrait style work, www.fortitude.me/myportfolio (external link) is my site with some samples

All the people pictures are what I consider portrait ( so not just head/face)

Budget is around 1000-1200

Things I've seen from canon but need advice/feedback
100m macro L series f2.8?
135m L series f2
24-70 2.8 mark I

I prefer prime tho, since normally better quality for cheaper
I want brand new for the price.

Thanks in advance

In my opinion, if you can take the time to swap lenses, the 135mm f/2 is one of the best lenses you can get. The 100mm Macro is great too, but for portraiture, the 135mm is better according to my understanding.

I would even say, if you can stretch the budget a little, you could get the 135 f2, and a 85 f1.8 lens.
The 85mm f1.8 is also a superb lens. Not-as-good as the 135mm, but still well worth the prise.

The two together would be around $1400, and for the money you have two great lenses.

Here is something to read:

85mm f/1.8: http://www.the-digital-picture.com …-1.8-USM-Lens-Review.aspx (external link)

The 24-70 Mk1 is also a nice lens, but not really in the range you 85-100mm :)
Also sadly you can't really get the 24-70 Mk1 new anymore.

Maybe a 70-200 f2.8 would be something to consider, the NON-IS version should be around $1200-$1300.

But its big, and heavy. But more versatile then the two primes, of course, the primes have a shallower depth of field.

You want something 85-100mm for portraiture, why aren't you considering two very good little lenses that fit the bill perfectly, the 85/1.8 and 100/2? There's also the more expensive Sigma 85/1.4 which would be my pick out of the 3. The 100L would work too, but not my 1st choice for portraiture. The 135L is great, but you said 85-100. 24-70, too short IMO, and again, not 85-100.

If you want a zoom, there's the Sigma 70-200 2.8 OS.

Great suggestions, and I said around 100mm

It can be more or less, but I just want whatever will be best quality.

Thanks for help so far.

Edit

I say around 85 because my old 7D + a 50mm was around that andninloved it for portrait work.

Very versatile in my small area, that is why I wanted that or 100mm

May very much consider a 85mm if there is a higher quality that would be good.

Id go for the 135L

it is a very sharp lens and the af is also fast. Color rendition is very good and the bokeh is like butter. I think this is canons best L lens if you also consider its price. You have to step back a little bit if you ant to do whle body but i had few shootingss with that lens and it wasnt that probelmatic.

Thanks. I am gonna do the 85mm and the 135mm eventually.

I love the stuff I've seen by both, especially for full frame.
