Not enough info yet to draw any solid conclusions, but this technology sure looks interesting and it looks pretty close to getting into a camera.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

An organic sensor! At last, vindication! Now maybe people will believe me when I tell them that I get 16 stops of DR ever since I spilled carrot juice into my camera while changing a lens.

But seriously, 1.2 times the sensitivity. That additional 1/5 of a stop will be very welcome.

First a prism layer to replace the bayer filter, and now this, Fuji and Panasonic are making great strides in sensor design... too bad we won't see this in a good camera any time soon.

I acquired an expensive camera so I can hang out in forums, annoy wedding photographers during formals and look down on P&S users... all the while telling people it's the photographer, not the camera.

It's not the increase to sensitivity that's interesting. It's the doubling of S/N and increase in pixel saturation levels. They are taking a different approach than other sensor makers.

The increased angle of incidence would have been useful on tech cams.

And on full frame sensors.

This is the one article where DR is mentioned. 29 stops of DR truly is insane.

Wouldn't it be something if Canon forgoes the Exmore and goes sources this sensor in their bodies. The 5DMkIV could be a total revolutionary body.

Someone is spinning something or just miscalculated, coming from video cameras, one would know that 6db = 1 stop (roughly), thus 88db is actually 14.6 stops, not 29. It's certainly more than the D800, but not by much.

To straighten things out, 16bits is 96db, or 16 stops of dynamic range, while 29 stops is 174db - you would need a floating point container to store that much data. This isn't even taking into account the ADC units and other components and physics involved that wouldn't make such a dynamic range possible.
