There are some great recommendations here: http://www.flickr.com …iscuss/72157623921411640/ (external link)

I think Sprague Lake looks like it has some great potential for sunset/sunrise shots with the reflections!

Bear Lake, Nymph Lake, Dream Lake, Emerald Lake loop is a must. Keep tabs on the NPS web site regarding road closures on Bear Lake Rd --

No problem! Really, for landscape - any lakes with good reflection potential are worth visiting. Scenes with the Rockies in the background for sunset could make for a great shot too. I often look through google images to find scenes that look interesting in any given area, find out where the location is if I like the image, and then travel there to get my own take and twist on the scene.

When you get to Estes Park, visit Erik Stensland's gallery 'Images of RMNP' gallery. He sells a small photography guide which has been useful to me on both my trips there.

Have fun...RMNP is a great place!

What kinds of shots are you looking for?

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

How much hiking do you want to do? The roads are nice, but much of the action is off the roads a mile or two.

For waterfalls, the best area is the Glacier Gorge area. I typically drive up to that parking area around 4 pm for evening shooting. The trail leads to Alberta Falls, which is quite popular. But higher up about a mile and a half from the parking lot is a 3-way fork. The left goes to Mills Lake, the middle to Sky Pond and the right to Lake Haiyaha, all of which are a total of 2.5 miles or less from parking lot to destination. The key is you have to get off the trail. Even just a couple hundred yards away you can find shots that few people have made, because most people stay on the trail and only shoot from the trail. Here are a few recent shots from that area.

Make sure you bring your tripod, polarizer, ND and ultrawide angle lens. I typically shoot in the 14mm to 80mm range on crop sensor.

I've done it with my Corolla many times. :)
