I found this web site that is selling a new 5D mk3 for $1200 after all the discounts.
It would be a gray market camera manual is in Japanese.
I was thinking at that price I would not worry about the warranty just take my chances but I did a search of the site and plenty of people said they got scammed.
I don't know if it would be worth it to try to buy but my credit card is real good about recovering from this kind I have had some experience with some like that in the past.
Would you take the chance at that price.

They may offer it at $1200 but then you have to buy all the items normally included in the box for triple or quadruple the value and if you don't, it's suddenly on back order for 6 weeks while they still have your credit card number. Don't bother.

Complete waste of your time. I'm sure that if you wait long enough, you'll be able to buy from a reputable dealer for 1200 or less......just give it some time :-)

This. ^^

Why would you even consider this?

Yes, your credit card company will cover you, but so what? You aren't going to get the camera at that price, and you will have given scammers your credit card details and have to go through all the hassle of sorting that out with your CC provider.

Basically, you will order the camera, they will probably charge your card then call you and offer you some "extras" to go with it, such as the battery and the charger, they may well ask if you want to uograde to the decent US version of the camera, not the cheap and crappy Taiwanese model (which doesn't exist of course, they are all the same). By the time you have ordered everything to get it back to what you should receive anyway, it will cost more than from a reputable dealer. Don't buy the "extras" and the camera order will be delayed, and delayed, and delayed, until you cancel it.

Having wasted all that time dealing with them, you now need to go and waste even more trying to sort it all out with your CC company.

You aren't going to get a cheap camera out of this, even as an outside chance. Why put yourself through all that hassle for no chance of reward?

Surprised you are even considering it but regard it as money spent in gaining experience, not a camera.

Well I think I will pass but what is tempting is I have learned that you can get some good deals. When I bought a new 7D shortly after they came out people was paying more than $1200 for them I bought mine for $800.00 that is not anywhere near the cut as what they are claiming on the 5D but it is possible to beat what the big online guys are charging.

I checked some of the sites reseller ratings and others seems like the common thing is try to get you to upgrade to something more expensive and when you refuse they do not ship but keep claiming that they have until people get tired and cancel the order.

At that point they claim they have already shipped and they bill your credit card for a restocking fee of 15 percent

If you can not prove that it was never shipped it will be hard to get your money back because it clearly states on the web site that they have a 15 percent restocking fee..

I should add that the place that I got the deal on the 7D was not the same site as this one.
