Did some testing last night with my XSi and an old Vivatar 28mm f/2.8 lens I had from the film days . It's a good lens but not great for astro work . Size is but lens quality not so much . I took 55 lights at 11-secs each and 10 darks and stacked in DSS then finished edit in Cs5.5 . On the full image there is coma and vignetting at the edges but stars look more round towards the center which you can see in the 50% crop . However star colors are good and a few asterisms are very noticeable such as the CoatHanger which is one of my favorites and Lyra . I did have to fight quite abit of LP so the Summer Triangle was straight up reducing the amount of LP but could not get it all out without ruining the BP . Other than that I've kept the BP from being clipped on the Histogram which I thought was pretty good . Cs'&Cs' are welcome .
