My current kit is as follows:

7D
6D

430EXII

16-35 II (night photography, landscapes)
24-105 (landscapes, general everyday use)
100-400 (wildlife, kid's soccer)
EF-S 60mm Macro (macro, obviously)

I originally wanted to upgrade my EF-S macro lens to an EF version, but I've decided instead to buy something to fill an area I don't have covered. Right now I'm thinking either the 135 f/2 or the 85mm f/1.2 II. I have two nieces, aged 8 and 7, who will be the subjects of most of my photography with these lenses over the next number of years.

Any thoughts/advice on these lenses, or other suggestions, would be greatly appreciated.

Since the 85L is almost double as expensive as the 135L, its a question of the budget.
Both are superb lenses.

The 135 might be a bit long, for some, and the 85L is better indoors and in low light.
Since you have both a 7D, and a 6D, I would choose the 85L, because you can effectively use it as 85mm with the 6D, and as 135mm with the 7D (1.6x Crop).

But again its a question of the budget you have. And what are willing to spend.

Yeah, 135mm would probably be useless for around the house type shots...

Depends on how much space you have. I love the 135 for tight shots

You could get the 100L. It would give you that macro and an f/2.8 lens in a range that you only have an f/4 (no it is definitely not a f/1.2 nor f/2). If you use the Limiting Switch, it is reasonably fast to AF for regular photos.

Otherwise for the price of an 85L, I'd rather pick-up both the 135L and the Canon 85mm f/1.8 (or the Sigma 85mm f/1.4).

Thanks for Reading & Good Luck - Jim

Hmm, that's a thought as well...

It would be great for tight head shots for sure, but I don't have enough space to get anything more than that indoors.

I could buy the 135, 85 1.8, and 100 Macro for the same price as the 85 1.2... Hmmm that may be the correct answer.

Sell the 60 to fund the L version of the 100 instead of the reg one? well that is if you were planing on buying all 3 lenses from your earlier post.

I will probably sell my 60mm when I buy the 100mm. I am planning on going with the non-L version because it's smaller, lighter, and I don't really think I need IS on a macro lens.
