A while back, I was at a camera trade show, CPS was set up there so I dropped off my 5D3 and had them check/clean and do a firmware update...

Had the "irregular communication" message with third party batteries - that's been covered here...

Yesterday, decided to try FoCal on my D700, and also to re-test the 5D3
D700 testing/calibrating went off without a hitch...
However with the 5D3

Computer recognizes camera, Focal detects body, and lens.
When I start the test, all proceeds as normal, but then it gives an error
(have to paraphrase it from memory) "cannot download RAW file.

I had used this software successfully prior to the firmware update.

W7 sees the computer, DPP reconizes the camera, I can copy files from the CF card to the computer.

Has anyone else experienced any issues with FoCal after the 5D3 firmware update?

thx

Do you have the latest software update from Reikan? I believe it's 1.9 and also if your firmware on the 5D3 updated as well?

Switch your RAW file to Jpeg instead on the Reikan software. When I was calibrating it said the same thing, until I switch over to Jpeg files.

Latest FoCal version, and newest Canon firmware...

When I get some free time, I will try the .jpg only, see if that works

The only issue i had was the FoCal was not detecting i had the latest FW in ym 5DMKIII, and told me to download it. This was just a notification though (and was wrong as i was running 1.2.1 anyway).
Other than that, no issues with the last two versions of FC, with latest camera FW, and raw files.

Not wanting to bash FC (again) but its very flaky software, which is a shame as its also very useful.
