Nice capture John. It is indeed a great lens especially at its price point. Have been using mine
for several years now and finally mated it up with a 7D where it really seems to shine.
Enjoy!

I keep my 50D set up so I can grab it for some quick macro.

It was good and misty down on the marshes near Normans Bay in East Sussex this morning. I was trying a touch of foreshortening with my 70-300 when a pair of swans that I could barely see in the distance, decided to take flight. I started firing off shots as they beat their way across my field of view. The light was so poor in the mist that the ISO is up at 1600. I wasn't sure how the VC control of my Tamron would cope with the slow panning, but I kept firing. Then it stopped focusing. The battery was not up to it! I have read that this lens is power hungry and now I have first hand experience. I am going to invest in a new battery as my existing ones are very well used. On the plus side I did get some 'atmospheric' captures of one of the birds in flight. To my eye, the grainy aspect of the image adds to it and reminds me of the murky nature of the morning.

I was down at Newport docks this week and, though I'm not massive on 'reflections' shots, the sky and the mirror surface of the inner lagoon here was irresistible. Plus it was time to play with my 70-300 again :D
Concentrating very hard on getting horizontals correct too. I use the focus points in the view finder. Is that what we all do?

I was parked half on the pavement to visit someone the other week and I spotted this ivy by the passenger door. I like the textures and colours of the different elements.

I keep my 50D setup with my 100mm macro lens for the occasional portrait of little visitors such as this guy who was crawling up a window.

I'm not very satisfied with the sharpness. I took maybe 50 photos and non turned really sharp.
When the stork flew away I managed to get pretty sharp shots.
But at this scene with this busy background it was not very easy for the Sigma

The 50D is a time tested photographic machine.

How come your images are so clean at 400 ISO? Are you cleaning them in post? I use a 50mm 1.8 and my images are really noisy at 400 ISO. You think it might be the lens?
