This weekend was spent at Pictou Lodge just outside Pictou, Nova Scotia. After a nice thunderstorm, I experimented with some recently purchased ND filters. As this was my first time using the filters, I would appreciate comments / suggestions on their use and processing techniques when using them.

For this particular shot, I merged two exposures together to bring out some of the colors of the grass, trees, and boats while maintaing the frozen water. The shot was taken at 10pm in low light.

Know this area very well .... nice capture. The eye is always drawn to the brightest area, so the far left of your photo is the main point .... not sure if that is the area I would have brightened so much. It would be nice to allow the eye to wander through the photo...along the left shoreline into the back cove. I would have darkened those bright areas to give the photo a better balance. The composition, though, is very nice.

I really like the glow on the lake from the lights. Great shot!

Thanks. I follow what you are saying. I will experiment with this.
