This image was taken just as a bushfire was all but extinguished, the thick lingering smoke giving the scene a decidedly apocalyptic ambience. It took 3 helitaks and 2 fixed wing water bombers to put it out.

Comments and/or feedback most appreciated. Many thanks for looking.

I love this mate. Looking very ghostly...there's nothing like the erie feeling you get straight after a bush fire and I think you've captured the feeling perfectly

G'Day, Andrew!

I love the image! It is ghostly. Lovely composition.

However, given you asked for comments and/or feedback, I'll give some additional feedback.

I live in Virginia, just outside of DC. This could easily pass as a typical morning around here with ground fog, especially around autumn. It looks very similar, calm, quiet, docile. You don't want that for this photo.

I imagine you went b&w because it looked better than color. Were it me, I'd have probably done the same thing. I'd also take it another step. I'd make a virtual copy and play with it in color, working with redish orange hues. I'd try to make it look as if this had been a fire, which it had. Google "forest fires" and look at what you can find. Try a version with those types of colors. Make it come alive, make it a bit disturbing which it would have been. Show me this was a fire.
