I have been downloading my 300D images using "canon camera window" and "zoom browser". This places them in folders according to date in my "my pictures" folder, In my desktop computer.

I am trying to transfer my photos and files from my desktop to my laptop and am constantly getting the message: Access Denied image xxx.jpg is not available, you dont have permission or it is in use. Even when I shut down both systems and start from scratch I am constantly getting this.

It only seems to pertain to the occasional x.jpg files and not the RAW files. However every time this pops up it stops my file transfer, so essentally I do not know what made it and what did not (without making a tedious visual check, im working on transfering 15gb)

The my pictures folder where my files are stored is shared and everything but the apparent random JPG transfers ok.

Has anyone had this problem?

Can anyone help me fix this?

I experienced a similar problem when I first started using Zoom Browser with Windows XP I was sure that was the issue. Turned out, the problem actually was with Norton Anti-Virus. Ditched that...loaded Panda A-V and haven't had a problem since.

The problem may be that you are not using an anti-virus, something may have gotten in there that is causing problems. The option that I have used in cases like this is simply to uninstall the program and then reinstall it . Make sure you back up your data first, and use the Microsoft program to remove the porgram. Sometimes these things get corrupted through no foult of our own.

I think this is a known issue for Windows Xp user. The Windows Explorer will lock the file occasionally. I have had this problem with my video files. It said the file is in use but nothing else was using the file except Windows Explorer itself.

My first question for you is, did you open the Windows Explorer in you laptop and then from there browse to your desktop to grab the files? Or the other way around? If one way gives the problem, try the other one.

Also, in your Windows Explorer, do you use Thumbnails or Tiles mode to view the files? If yes, try change it to Lists or Details, and see if that takes care of it.

Hope that helps.

I often have similar problems when cleaning up files, either transfering between folders or trying to delete files or folders. I am told access denied. Usually re-booting the system will unlock them so they can be deleted or moved. However this solution is not working for the ntework transfer.

I do have spy-ware, Mcaffee, and dont think it or the Zoom Browser program is responsible for this particular problem. At least I have not heard of anyone having problems with Zoom Browser outside of its own environment just because they used it to create files. But of course that is why I am asking, so I will try and turn off the anti-virus, but at this point I do not see what good re-loading zoom browser will have. Besides has anynone noticed if you upgrade or re-load zoom browser it will wipe out your camera drivers! This is very anoying and time consumeing to set them back up!

For now I am backing up to CD. Apparently full access is granted for this. Once on CD I cn just copy them from there onto the laptop. Time consumeing compared with network transfer but at this point it may be quicker...

Are they in a certain FOLDER? Sometimes WINDOWS tends to have a bunch of problems with user rights permissions, RIGHT CLICK on it and check that you have sufficient rights to that certain folder, better yet change the ownership.

They seem to be scattered about. My my pictures folder has around 80 sub folders mostly created by Zoom Browser and named according to date. Most folders contain raw files from the camera and some contain raw + jpg that were taken by the camera and some contain the above and jpg files that were created with DPP from the raw images.

The folders with only raw images around 20% transfer no problem. The ones with jpg's mostly transfer but every few folders I get a Access Denied popup that halts the transfer. Apparently it is usually 1 image in the folder among many but sometimes as many as 5. Seems to occur both to those shot as jpg and those converted in DPP. As the dates got later I started to get this in nearly every file, so I have given up...

Unlocker is a godsend. Highly recommended and I'm guessing should help you with your problem.

On a side note, pick up a card reader - way better than hooking up your camera to the computer...

I would try zipping the images into zipped folders to see if you can transfer the folder. I know 15GB's is a lot to zip, but may help in the transfer. Maybe create 5, 3GB folders?
I run into this problem a lot with Microsoft Raw Image Viewer.

I had that problem to the extend that I couldn't even delete it. Right click the file goto properties/advance and make sure the archive box is unchecked then ok. If that doesn't work use command prompt to transfer it in DOS.
