This was the fourth out of four weddings I shot in July and the fifth wedding under my belt (total). Definitely the most detailed event by far. We took so many photos, haha.

I'm still working on the blog post but will be sure to update this thread as soon as it's done. Here goes 8.....

As always, feel free to comment and thanks (mahalo) for looking!!!

Aloha!

I am going to tear you to shreds, not because I'm a jerk (though I probably am one) but to also give you some constructive feedback!

1. Brides pose not good, I'd recommend getting her to turn more away from the camera then looking back at her left shoulder for this shot, and have doing something with her hands like pretending fixing up earrings, fixing up dress etc.

2. This looks overcooked on some PS/LR actions, I'd ease back slighty to avoid the overly green/yellow look

3. watch colours on tablecloth - seems a bit yellow. This is a difficult exposure situation with the backlit scene, but I'd even focus on the foreground elements (with the first table accessory not so close to the camera) and blow out the rest

4. I like - but watch dress highlights.

5. Fun shot - watch your DOF, if necessary to maintain background blur, focus on different people each shot and focus stack in photoshop (composite) (and take plenty as the more you have, the easier to focus stack appropriately)

6. Good idea and execution, would prefer brides face to be less overexposed, it's quite bright and shiny at the moment. Good emotion from groom

7. Very nice, lighting on bride is a bit overexposed though, try doing a -exposure correction in RAW and then merge the photo in photoshop with this one and masking for the bride only to get her less overexposed.
This would have been a killer shot with B+G together eloping under the rainbow, but still nice as it is

8. Whilst I like the Bride looking back to the camera (or to the groom), I feel that the cliché, but effective way to execute this photo is them walking down the road, with you photographing parallel to the road. That maximises the blurriness of the background (instead of distracting trees) and also gives that "travelling down the road" romantic look. Be careful of your safety though if doing this shot :)

I was afraid to go through your whole post after reading that first sentence BUT it was not as bad as I expected. Appreciate the feedback!! If I may, I would like to offer some background to a few of the images posted here.

1. Was a candid shot (bridesmaid was helping bride with her shoes)

2. You got me (LR4 preset)

3. The tent was a bit discolored (yellow) which was making the slightly yellow tablecloth a bit more yellow than normal. It was a tough white balance situation for sure...

4. Got me again

5. Didn't want the groomsmen stealing all the coolness. As funny and interesting as they are, I wanted the viewers attention drawn back to the main man

6. Set this one up in near pitch black. I don't know how the 5d Mark III pulled focus on it as I had no assistant, flashlight, modeling lamp, IR beam, etc (it's a tiny bit Oof, although still a usable file). This was sort of a "Hail Mary" and I think it was a score.....considering

7 & 8 - Shot a bunch of different perspectives for these two images (I have a few featuring bride and groom under the rainbow #7 and then B&G looking down the long stretch of road in photo #8). I just seem to like these for some odd reason;)

Thanks again for the reply (200+ views with no reply is just as scary IF NOT SCARIER than your opening sentence)    LoL!!!

Really nice set thanks for sharing and I learned a bit from critique and answers.

Points made are all valid but this is a decent enough attempt. For me I would leave number 1 out of your set or maybe you could push the exposure.. maybe convert to greyscale.. might make an ok filler/arty shot.

The others are decent enough - I agree with the comments made.

The last shot - the holding hands/rainbow shot - the out of focus foreground is distracting - but - you could crop it, bring the horizon down to a third from the bottom... might have more impact. Nice shot though - good work.

5d Mark II + whatever lenses I have on the day..

This is the sort of feedback I could do with on my post!!

But all very valid points, and the photos are certainly heading in right direction.
Maybe clone the yellow road markings on the last one?
