Well...images are nice and sharp (with a missed focus on #2) with good exposure. But they have no/boring content. The high angle of view is not working to make the photos getting classified as Sport photos. They are shot way too wide to get a sense of the action gives no impact to the photos. Photos like these are 500 to a dozen online with variable quality. It´s a spectators view and is not sports photos but more like "look where I´ve been" photos. Sorry for the brutal honesty, but how to improve?

1. Get down to the field. You will make better photos from matches in the lowest league as long as you stand on the field rather than photographing spectator view photos. It´s not about having the most famous players or take photos on the most exclusive stadium. Sport photos are all about recreating the action and the atmosphere from the match.

2. For the action shots : Shoot tight, crop tighter. For mood-photos you can shoot wide to either get the surroundings, fans or the dugout in the frame. Action, facial expressions, pain, joy etc is what you´ll be looking for.

These are the only advices I´d give for now. Sorry if the feedback is brutal/harsh, but it´s my personal honest opinion. Aim for the lower leagues and learn from there.

I guess you´re not able to get a super tele (i.e. Sigma 150-500mm) in to the stadium so I would get as wide as I can possibly get to get the whole stadium or get more of the spectator emotions. Secondly: crop like h**l to get closer to the action. The 5DIII do have plenty of megapixels to crop so even if you crop to 6-7 megapixels you will still get a good image (if you have good quality glass)

Alternatively you can try to get a seat closer to the pitch next time. A good sport action photo is, in most cases, cropped tight.

I think that unless you have proper accreditation to go pitchside you might as well leave the camera behind and enjoy the match. "atmosphere" shots are OK but you can't compete with the official shooters at this level of the game. Hone your skills on non-league.

yea true.

But if you was standing where i am, could you have taken better shots? if so, how?

was my framing bad? composition?

Alot of the average joe who have seen my pics really love them and thought i was a pro sitting pitch size as some of those shots where heavily cropped.

I had a quick look at your flickr gallery, some nice atmosphere shots, nothing wrong with them. Love the last shot posted here. Getting wide angle shots of a full stadium in good light is always worth doing. Frankly, I can't see anyone thinking you were a pro shooter based on the player shots, as the angle is all wrong for a pro shooter. However, I don't think there's much 'wrong' with #2 shot here. Except I would have cropped the excess green and tried to get the whole shadow in, which might have made an interesting shot. #1 does nothing for me, just the uninteresting backs of people. #3 is OK too, but would have been better if you'd captured the goalie either saving or conceding a goal. Just taken a bit too early. #4 and #5 wouldn't have made it into my gallery! Sorry, just nothing to grab the attention (or at least my attention) :-)
