Hey there everyone, I took this shot in a parking garage in St. Louis this summer. It's an old Mercedes and I thought it was so cool. At the time all I had was my rebel G film camera and I used some really old tmax 3200 that I got in 2000 when I was still in college. I didn't have a flash or anything, so the image came out underexposed. I've somewhat managed to rescue one of the better shots in PS and using noise ninja. It's sort of a neat shot, but I wanted to get some opinions as to whether or not this is something that could borderline "portfolio worthy." Obviously I'm leaning towards no at the time, but there's just something about it that I dig. Anyway, here it is, let me know what you think. I've included the original for comparison. Thanks!

You might be able to pass it off as an antique photo (as well as an antique car).

Have you thought about giving a shot of Sepia toning, to help with the "old" look?

It still has noticeable noise - I don't know if that's enough to keep it from being acceptable. I think the lack of shadow detail is probably the biggest deterrent.

I'm no authority on vintage cars, but could there have been steel belted radials when that particular Mercedes came out - I would doubt it. I seem to remember Steel Belted Radials as coming out around the late 50's, but I could be very wrong on that.

This car definitely seemed to be older than the 1950's. I know diddly about cars, but I'd venture to say this one was from the 1920's. It was a convertible too. That 3200 film is very noisy by nature, and I probably didn't use it the proper way (I think people usually rate it at a lower iso, I've kind of forgotten how to deal with film even though I did darkroom work when I was in college). I think I'll give sepia a try to see if it gives it a different feel. I agree about the shadow detail, I can't even see the tire treads.
