That picture of that second bear looks more like a black bear to me. Sony A7III | Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 | Rokinon 14mm f2.8 | Sigma 150-600c + MC-11 adapter

If so that was taken a hundred yards after crossing the border from Montana to Albert. The crossing is near Waterton Nat park Alberta. I was not sure on that as it appeared smaller than the other (first 2 pics first post) and I could not see a hump. However he was in deep cover and moving all the time, I never got to see the whole bear at one time.

Sometimes their coloring makes it hard to tell, though. Sony A7III | Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 | Rokinon 14mm f2.8 | Sigma 150-600c + MC-11 adapter

Aug 13, 2013 00:00 | #9 I would say the second photo has the 'straight face' of a black bear. T3i |70D |70-200L| 400L | 100-400L | 24-105L | 50 1.8 | sig 10-20 | sig 150-500

I suspected it was not a Grizzly but was not sure, we don't get to many bears in in central Florida

You will notice that its head is a purple color it is the same in all the pics I took, when I took the picks he/she was in the middle of a large bush and it looked like he/she was devouring the bush. Could the purple color be from berries? It could be. It might also be the way your camera renders the color of the bear. When I was processing a few pictures of a black bear, it had a magenta hue to it. I had to do some color adjustments to correct it. Aug 13, 2013 10:32 | #15 If these were taken in and around the Jasper/Banff area, the bears love to dine on buffalo berries. That would be my guess T3i |70D |70-200L| 400L | 100-400L | 24-105L | 50 1.8 | sig 10-20 | sig 150-500
