I am considering a trade offer where I am getting 5D MKI for my refurbished 7D. 5D is bellow 10,000 activations and has some dust on the sensor. Otherwise in good condition. Does this sound like a reasonable trade? What else should I consider checking in 5D before agreeing to the trade?

7Ds sell for between 800 and 900 on the used market, and 5Ds for between 500 and 600. Unless you're also getting some cash, I personally would not make this trade. You'd be better to sell your 7D and buy a 5D.

7D definitely has a bit more cash value.

Yep, you lose with that deal. Just check out the previous sales here on the buy sell forum to confirm this.

I traded my 7d for a t2i/5d combo and that was pretty much a straight swap. If you do decide on what's fair for your refurb, the 5d and $300 for your 7d sounds about right. It really depends on what you like to shoot as to whether or not it's a good deal.

I would gladly make that trade. It's a great deal and I recommend it, but only with me. These other guys will rip you off.

I am new here, so please take my comments with a small grain of salt, or two. I see a lot of value in have one crop body and one full-frame body. I would keep the 7D and add the 5D to my arsenal of tools. Just my humble opinion.

Dedicated APS-c shooter. Gripped 60D, 60 2.8, 10-22, 15-85, Σ70-200 OS and a big white something or other! Plus a 5D w/28-75.

Now, be nice. Asking questions and others' opinions is researching.
