Looking at the Photogenic ION Lithium-ion Pure Sine Wave Inverter vs other options including the Profoto BatPac for use with my D1 Airs.

Does anyone have any experience with the Photogenic system. Or can any one recommend a better option for the money, efficiency and portability.

I like the thought of hanging one of the Photogenic's on a stand with the light vs the cords running along the ground with the Bat Pac.

Here's a link to the Photogenic's: http://www.bhphotovideo.com …nverter_with_battery.html (external link)

The vagabond mini by PC Bluff works perfectly! Just place your D1"s in "bat mode" and you will be fine....

Happy Shooting:lol:

Photogenic has been producing lighting stuff for a long time. I recall seeing a retailer sponsored 'shoot out' at a tradeshow in Chicago in the 1990s, where it bested the White Lighting in virtually every test category.

Doesn't the Photogenic ION seem suspiciously the same spec wise as the VML?

Thanks for the responses everyone. I should have known to check out the vagabond mini as many times as I have seen it mentioned on POTN. I had seen the Photogenic at a camera shop in Houston, the salesman/ photographer was recommending them from experience.

They do seem to be almost identical or at least very similar to the Vagabond, other than the easy access fuse. The Vagabond seems to be less expensive and does have better recycle times based on comparison between the listed specs. on both units.

I'm going to do a little more research on other options since Im not in a big hurry to purchase at the moment. The Vagabonds are definitely high on the list right now.

Thanks again.
