I actually like LR 4 for my BW conversions, and will leave the BW for LR even if I have been working on an image in colour in PS. I know that a lot of folks really like Nik Silverfx pro for BW conversion. I have seen a lot of good work done with it.

I've tried the LR presets, but it doesn't seem to do it to what I want.

Nik Silverfx leaves this over silver effect I don't like. I trialled it last year, and just didn't like it

Silver Efex is by far one of the best. If it leaves too much of a silver effect, its because you are not adjusting your settings correctly and not a fault of the application.

Another vote for silverfx. The presets are there to give you a starting place. Everything is adjustable from a bright silvery look to a dark sepia look and so much in between. Adjust it to your liking and save the settings.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

I'm not a total fan of the inbuilt LR BW presets, but I made up a set of my own that I do like. I definitely prefer it to the Channel Mixer in PS, although they are similar. The fact is LR has a few more channels available, and I like the way the sliders work better too.

Since the OP was asking about CS5, and may or may not have Lightroom, it could be helpful to know that what Alan is talking about doing in Lightroom can be done in Camera Raw in CS5!

The reason why I'm looking for a CS5 plugin, is because I may want to do something afterwards, though I know that some plugins are meant for both which I wouldn't mind

I forgot to mention that I have LR4, but only looking for a plugin for CS5

SilverEfex is considered, by far, the benchmark tool for BW conversion processing. All others strive to match it, none do - including LR.
