I just got the prints back and they have a cast to them. I talked to the lab and they see the cast on the jpegs I submitted. Could some of you take a look at any of the files (http://www.mediafire.com …/g3i2v2rzv6iha/color_cast (external link)) and see if you're seeing a cast and what color. I'd made an order a couple of weeks ago and they were fine, just trying to figure out if my monitor calibration has gone screwy.

Thanks.

The white balance seems a little bit on the bluish side, perhaps.

All three look fine to me, certainly nothing that I would be worrying about if they were mine. These are of course a situation where the correct WB to use is more of an aesthetic choice, than an exact science. Given that, you could probably get away with going warmer, but not really any cooler. But that is of course just my opinion.

Thanks Kirk and Alan. Now I'm more confused. The prints have a slight yellowish cast to them and the lab said she sees them having a yellow cast. They look fine in CS6 to me. I chose "no color corrections" as always. I went ahead and ordered thru another lab and will compare when those prints get here. Thanks again for checking.

The T-shirt has some bluishness. I wanted to quantify, but for some reason the stupid web site wants to run some .EXE
Bullsh*t to that

No yellow cast here. I think the lab went screwy.

I did a screen grab...the result of three sample points is (R/G/B)

233/238/242
231/236/240
230/234/237

Decidedly biased toward blue

I'm beginning to wonder the same.

Wilt - that is pretty much the same results I get using sample points.

Back to square one. Prints from other lab came back and look identical to prints from first lab. Everybody here sees a bluish cast, not yellow, and the RGB samples suggest a slight bias to the blue channel. I'm beginning to question my eyes and/or sanity!

I don't see any colour cast, either blue or yellow. I assume you matched the labs paper to the image and tweaked the colour as required before sending?

Just a thought, what colour profile are you using? sRGB? Or a specific profile for the lab? Are the images you have posted the ones you are sending to the lab?

Interesting that you don't see any cast. Softproofed using their profile.

sRGB. Posted images are the same ones sent to both labs. Cast on prints is slight, not crazy yellow. In fact GF didn't notice it.

I've had prints come back with slight differences in luminance but always attributed that difference in viewing on screen versus room lighting. Color is usually on. These just have me confused because the lab sees yellow cast, prints have a yellow cast, but sampling the white tee shirt shows a slight bias in the blue channel and most here see the images being cooler rather than warmer.

Is the lab processing with zero auto-corrections? If not there's a chance that their auto-color correction could shift the images towards a yellow cast.

This would be my guess too.

I had "no color correct" on both labs. That was actually my thought until the prints came back from the 2nd lab.
