Great photo Dom I should have taken my tripod with me and done long exposures, although Saturday afternoon at Lee on Solent it was blowing a real holey I doubt the tripod would have stay put

Thanks guys I was lucky to get them as the tide even though it was going out and I had put the tripod above the incoming waves there was the odd big one that came in a tad to far and stopped just below the camera I had a bum clenching moment or two as I though the camera was going swimming.

Lee great shots, I have trouble with white backgrounds as well and when I try to fix it in PS it washes the rest of the image out, you need to get the light far enough away to light the whole background easier said than done sometimes.

I think if I wasn't so lazy and set up another flash to light the backdrop it would probably do the job - but that involves effort and with one pair of hands and a limited attention span it's a herculean task!

I use one flash for the background and it doesn't always work Lee so don't worry about it just keep snapping away

You need a "Rob" Flash

thanks for the kind comments - wont be long until Noel is in full bloom colour wise, he's already starting to show some vibrant markings

I've got a couple of the 600ex flashes which are excellent IMO I just need to use both rather than lazily using just the one...

Haven't been on in ages. Congrats to Ian for your photog of the year win, much deserved!! Let me know if you want me to post your mug or if you want me to just hand it off next time I see you.

I haven't done much photo wise lately, but we did go down to the Chinese New Year parade this past Sunday and I took a few snaps (not online yet I'm afraid). Made the unfortunate discovery that auto focus on my 70-200 has gone a bit wonky on me and will need to be sent in for repair. It focuses fine from its minimum focus distance up to about 5 meters away, but anything beyond that and it just bumps back and forth from in to out of focus and never settles on either.

I may be cheeky and ask to borrow one from someone as it was going to come along with me to my brothers wedding in the Dominican Republic later this month, but we'll see what the turn around is for repairs.

Do people generally use the Canon repair shop at Elstree? I remember taking my old 50mm there once, but it seems like Fixation has a pretty quick turn around.

Try the repair place near me, it used to repair all of Jessops repairs and apparently does a lot of Canon's too.
