Sail away

Went to Chicago over the weekend, but with our luck we showed up at Navy Pier the day after the Tall Ship show was closed. Besides, I killed the AF on my camera (a spill) so both wide primes I took with me were useless. Luckily I took an old manual focus 50mm with me at the last moment, just in case. A wrong focal length for a city like Chicago ! Still managed to snap a few shots.

So, what do you think of this one ? Little PP, mainly to bring up the clouds. It was a grey, overcast day. The ship in photo is Lynx, based in California, an exact copy of a 1812 American privateer under same name.

Do you think the ship looks oversharpened ?

Too much empty space. Hard to focus on a subject.

I don't think it looks oversharpened. That breakwater that's in front of the ship is killing the shot for me. It fights for and draws my eyes away from the ship.
