I just recently picked up another 5d classic and would like to use the same defaults as the 5d I have already made defaults for. I use other cameras, including a 30D, so I don't want my defaults to apply to every camera I throw at it.

Is there a way to slightly widen the scope of what the defaults apply to so they apply to, e.g., all 5ds regardless of serial number, in the same way ?

thanks !

Probably useful to state which version of LR you are using, so that folks give you an answer pertinent to your situation.

I would simply store presets of different names, one per model camera. Then, when you Import, tell LR to apply the appropriate preset (Apply During Import, Develop Settings (choose from list)

My suggestion is that you create a camera profile for each camera using the profile editor available from Adobe. The result will be a profile for each camera that corrects it to the color checker standard as default.

Then apply the camera profile on import based on camera serial number. You will end up with raw images from each camera that are as close to a neutral average as possible.

Then proceed with your color management workflow.

The normal, default behavior of LR is already exactly what you want. When you make a new set of default settings it is applied to all copies of the camera model used to shoot the photo active when you set the defaults. You can narrow that to make the set specific to a single camera by indicating that it is for that serial number or you can narrow the default set to the ISO of the active image. Note - if you set up a default set for ISO 1600 by choosing that option, and the photo used is an ISO 1600 shot from a 5D, the default will be for all ISO 1600 shots from all 5Ds.

This is true for all versions of LR.

This is in itself a good suggestion and should adjust for whatever slight variation there may be between the two units, but is slightly (although forgivably) OT, since the OP asks about a single default set for all 5Ds and this would require making separate serial number specific defaults sets, identical in every aspect except one - the camera profile selected in Calibration.
It is also dependent, of course, on having a Color Checker.
