The Dell 24" are what come to my mind first, the 2413 is the better of the 2, but the 2412 is more a budget IPS, but it would be better than most monitors. Just wait for a sale on either.

I know Eizo has monitors under $500, ASUS has been coming out with some decent IPS monitors as well. It kind of depends on what features are most important to you, and how accurate the colors need to be (plus standard or wide gamut). Hopefully Julian will chime in as well, he's normally pretty up to date on monitors.

I know I want a wide gamut and a 2560x1440 monitor. I'm looking at the bay and am strongly considering just splurging at this point. I just want to have enough money to get a Sigma 50 1.4 (old, not new), and am playing around with ~$900.

As far as color accuracy I want it to be 99% sRGB and definitely has to have IPS. I'm considering the U2713HM but I'd like the big brother of it, but I don't wanna spend an extra $300..

I'm also considerng a refurb thunderbolt display.

I don't think they make any 2560x1440 24" Monitors, so you would be looking at 27". Wide gamut will cover more than 99% sRGB so you can get a standard gamut IPS and still get that coverage.

There are some korean branded monitors that you can get for quite a bit cheaper, and they'll carry the same panels as some of the better monitors out there. That could be worth looking into as well.

To be honest I've grown pretty bored of the island life... if I were on mainland Japan I think I would enjoy my time here much more. Unfortunately thats not the case, the culture is awesome, the food is great, people are amazing, I'm just not keen for the location.

Ah my bad, I meant to say I want a 27" monitor too! I just remember reading that I want something with >95% sRGB.

Do you have any links to some Korean brands? I wouldn't know where to look for a good monitor although I think newegg has some off brand ones, I'm just a bit skeptical though.

Ahhh yeah, see it has been that long that I thought you were in the AF, but I was questioning myself on that. only 2.5 more years in the land of the Rising Sun! Anything fun happening out there?

Alexander is good thanks, growing up, and starting to be a little man himself...
