heh, I remember trying to record the 'black or white' song from in living color on tape :D

md's were awesome. but was expensive. loved the gum battery!

MDs were expensive, which is likely why it never caught on... which is a darn shame, because they were a massive improvement over tape cassettes. Basic MD players were usually $100+ (not too crazy, given $40-$80 cost for standalone CD players at the time), but MD recorder stations were usually $200+. You could buy a boombox style radio with cassette tray for $50-$80 anywhere...

With MDs, they were only sold so users could record what they wanted--and so far as I know they were never sold in stores with complete albums. Even cassette tape "albums" were still being sold in the music departments of big box stores back in the 90s. MDs really had a limited market, and were honestly doomed for failure. Not sure what Sony was thinking when they brought that product to market.

Oh baby, just look at that distortion! Somehow, it just works with that subject matter :)

I even had lens correction enabled in LR for the Canon 16-35 F/2.8 II...something's can't be undistorted lol

You worried about your tunes. I remember having my programs on cassette tapes. Slooooooooooow to load. Still, it beat paper tape, which came before.

In the early 2000s when i was working for the government, they were still backing up their servers (for various company websites) with cassette tapes. It was amusing. Each one roughly took 20 minutes. I usually wasted a good hour in that cold server room every few days. That was nappy-time for me.

I remember doing tape recordings of New Year's top songs as a mix tape since it was pre-recorded and no commercials. I had one of those machines that automatically switched to side a to side b when recording. There was a big gap though when it switches over.

Next jump was to discman... no more recordings and had to buy music cds. :-x

I remember seeing a computer at school that used cassette tapes as media. I am almost sure it was some type of Apple. ;-)a

We used the TRS-80 Model III's in high school (1984). All programs had to be loaded via cassette. I wrote a 7000 line chemistry program for a project and couldn't get it to load, I had it printed and was graded on it. I finally did get it to load and was able to show the teacher. I hated that tape system.
