Hey Tony, interested in this buy2get1 sale on vinyls?
http://slickdeals.net …ree-on-select-records?v=1 (external link)

Frontpage deal on slickdeals, stock probably won't last long because of it.

I looked at Target and Amazon lists, none of the rare ones I need are in the list for the sale, in fact many of those I already have or can get easily at lower price, The Saturday Night Fever tow records album, lists at both sites at $27.98, I got it for $1.00 same for Fleetwood Mac listed at $19.98 I got it at $1.00 too. The Duran Duran Rio I have a mint condition from my 80's purchase I bought then at $5.00 new and now sells for $29.98. I have found some rare ones, like Sinatra's mono record the Voice, I also have Beatles in mono :-). My target is to buy about 50 albums a week, the search and the finding of the good ones is part of the thrill, then I clean before I play. I still have about 100 old records to clean and will look for boxes in storage in manila for some of the oldies.
The Beatles complete album are selling in their site for about $400, there are many sites in Amazons and Ebay. I also buy form Music Direct i Chicago, but I have not even scratched the inventory of the local record store, I got Elvis six LP's golden anniversary series for $20.00.

That's too bad. I thought it might have been good considering how infrequently I've seen vinyl deals listed. Sounds like you managed to find a number of records in bargain barrels! I know LPs are supposed to sound the best, but I took one look at the cost of investment and said no. I've only got a few records that I've used with my parents player.

I've got a decent tube dac/amp for desktop use, and my fiio x5 player has a dac/amp built-in for portable use. I listen with my shure se535's and sennheiser hd 600's. Obviously I'm only using Flac format. I'm no audiophile, and it makes me happy.

I have listened to tube and thinking of getting one, but solid state designs have improved and I am actually looking at a hybrid at the moment, both for preamp and amp, tube front ends but solid state power, I used a tube preamp before and listening to my friend's $100K system with solid state amps and pre amp it sounded great. Here is his turntable and preamp DAC etc section, his amp is solid state and speaker wires are pure silver

I knew from the pictures alone that that setup looked expensive, but WOW, $100,000!!! At that price, can I live inside it? :)

could have cost him even more, he is so humble, his other friends said he has been changing gears over the years and rumored to have sent $2.5 million on this hobby.

okay you are the new audiophile with the tube headphone amp and dac, nice and enjoy. I just cleaned and played my Doors record and it is still mint from the 80's. Look at the trio I mentioned above the 2x $1.00 and the mint 80's Duran Duran
